Check the battery power level before you begin taking pictures. Don't miss an important picture because the camera batteries are low or exhausted.

Turn on the camera.
If a battery symbol appears in the LCD, the batteries are low or exhausted. If no symbol appears, your battery is charged.

When the batteries are exhausted, the viewfinder light blinks red for five seconds, then the camera turns off.
IMPORTANT BATTERY INFORMATION
For acceptable battery life and to make sure your camera operates dependably, do not use alkaline batteries.
Limit the following activities that can shorten battery life:
Using the LCD as the viewfinder (see Previewing Your Picture on the LCD)
Reviewing your pictures on the LCD (see Reviewing Your Pictures)
Excessive use of the flash
